Peterhead Prison Ministry

Four members of Riverside Christian Church, Banff make regular trips to Peterhead Prison as representatives of Prison Fellowship.

We take part in the Thursday evening service; preaching, singing, leading prayer times and meeting with individuals and sharing Jesus with them.

Peterhead differs from most prisons in Scotland as it mainly houses sex offenders.

The nature of their crimes means we are barred from doing things like The Angel Tree Project at Christmas which other PF groups undertake.

We receive regular training and refresher sessions to keep up to date on the regulations when interacting with the men.

The prisoners regularly thank us for going and it’s obvious that they appreciate our visits.

It’s important they discover there is hope for them, and that change is possible and the power of Christ can transform their lives.
